According to the American magazine Wine Spectator, the best wine in the world of 2023 is Italian and it is Brunello di Montalcino 2018 by Argiano; it is one of the oldest wineries in Montalcino with Renaissance origins and a history of 500 years. It extends for 135 hectares in the south-west corner of Montalcino and is located at an altitude of 300 meters above sea level. Soils of different origins, particularly rich in limestone, give wines of elegance, longevity and identity. The vineyards, on the plateau on which the company rests, are bathed in light and heat and are caressed by a light breeze of Tyrrhenian origin.
Brunello di Montalcino is obtained only from Sangiovese grapes. The wine must spend at least two years in wooden barrels and at least four months in the bottle. The result is a visually clear, brilliant wine, with a lively garnet color, with an intense, persistent, broad and ethereal aroma.
To taste: rose, strawberry and cherry aromas and flavors are the main themes in this red, along with wild herb, mineral and cut hay accents. Racy and full of energy, with a long, saturated finish.
